Overview:

The student will learn of the considerations for sensitive skin, the basics of electricity (including forms) and its effects on the skin.  Class topics will include galvanic current in iontophoresis or disincrustation procedures, as well as high frequency current. Electric mitts/booties/face masks and paraffin units will also be utilized in learning procedures for this course.  Students will also learn to use the Wood’s Lamp, Lucas sprayer, vaporizers, hot towel cabinets, brushing machines, and magnifying lamps.

The student will gain knowledge of chemistry and matter as related in the field of esthetics. The student will also be educated in chemical reactions, solutions/elements, compounds and mixtures/biochemistry. The pH scale and varying effects on the skin will also be discussed in this class

Cosmetic ingredients, ampoules, activators and concentrates in products will be discussed.  Knowledge in delivery systems, color agents, barrier functions and skin sensitivities will be learned along with student will education in FDA laws governing Cosmetics and Cosmetic Safety.  (90 hours applied over 20 classes)
